Halton Hill Chamber of Commerce Business
Ted Arnott attended the Halton Hills Chamber of Commerce Business Achievement Awards Banquet, held in Acton on March 10, 2010. Mr. Arnott made the following remarks:
Good evening everyone, and thanks for inviting me to join you tonight.
I’m glad to be here, along with Mayor Rick Bonnette and Members of Town Council, Regional Chair Gary Carr, my colleagues in elected public service.
Together, we are privileged to work for you.
And I want to express my thanks to the Chamber of Commerce, for the work that you do… as the voice for business, the voice for economic growth and progress, the voice for job creation in Halton Hills.
You understand that the job of government is to create an economic climate whereby businesses can grow and succeed.
You understand that in a competitive marketplace, growth and success are not guaranteed, but are the result of hard work, superior customer service, and old-fashioned smarts.
You also understand that if the economy is underperforming, there is no more money for government services we all value, like health care and excellent public schools.
And, you are right to expect that government should live within its means.
You are a source of optimism and hope for the future, a better future.
The promise of the future, that we all hope to secure—for ourselves, our children, and the generations that will come after us.
Thank you for all that you do. I look forward to working with you in the months ago, sharing your goal of making 2010 a year of success and prosperity.
