MPP Arnott congratulates community at groundbreaking of
Acton’s new library
(Wellington-Halton Hills) – “The Council and Staff of the Town of Halton Hills, as well as the
community of Acton deserve credit for the new library they will open soon,” said Wellington-Halton
Hills MPP Ted Arnott.
Mr. Arnott attended the Groundbreaking Ceremony for the new facility on Friday, May 7th.
“Our public libraries serve a vital function: they are the centres of culture and information in our
communities,” he said. Mr. Arnott is the PC Critic to the Minister of Culture, which is the Provincial
Ministry responsible for public libraries.
On January 28th, Mr. Arnott visited the existing Acton library to review the plans for the new one.
He came away very impressed with Geoff Cannon’s presentation.
“While we appreciate the contribution to the project from the Government of Canada and the
Government of Ontario, our new library wouldn’t be going ahead without the vision and creativity of
our local Council, Staff and volunteers,” he concluded.
Ted Arnott supported all the infrastructure funding applications which Wellington-Halton Hills
municipalities submitted to the Provincial Government, including the one for the new Acton library.
