Throne Speech a disappointment, says MPP Arnott
(Queen’s Park) – Instead of restoring confidence in Ontario’s future, the McGuinty Government’s
Throne Speech gives the impression that the government is simply going around in circles, says
Wellington-Halton Hills MPP Ted Arnott.
“Their economic policies aren’t working, and as a result, increasing numbers of Ontarians aren’t
working,” Mr. Arnott said.
He cited the loss of over 75,000 full time jobs in Ontario in the month of October alone.
“Throne Speeches are supposed to set the tone, and be a broad outline of the Government’s
objectives for the coming term,” Mr. Arnott continued.
“This one disappointed, because there were no new ideas. What’s worse, the Government seems
oblivious to the challenges we face. They don’t seem to know what to do,” he added.
Last week, PC Leader Tim Hudak offered the Government constructive suggestions for immediate
consideration. These included reducing wasteful government spending, encouraging job creation,
and supporting Ontario families make ends meet.
“In this short legislative session, we call upon the Government to work with us on these priorities,”
Mr. Arnott concluded.
