MPP Arnott appointed assistant Speaker
(Queen’s Park) – With a minority Parliament at Queen’s Park, Wellington-Halton Hills MPP Ted
Arnott will be helping newly-elected Speaker Dave Levac keep order in the Ontario Legislature.
On November 28th, a motion was passed by the House to appoint Mr. Arnott as a Presiding Officer
(assistant Speaker) in the Legislative Assembly.
“I’m looking forward to having this responsibility once again, and working to support the Speaker,”
Mr. Arnott said.
From 2003 to 2009, Mr. Arnott served as the one of the Presiding Officers of the House.
In resuming this role, Mr. Arnott continues to participate in the legislative debates, votes in the
House, and in the Ontario PC Caucus.
He also serves as the Critic to the Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs (the Hon. Dalton McGuinty).
“I’m glad to have these additional responsibilities, but as always, the concerns of my constituents
come first,” Mr. Arnott concluded.
The other new Presiding Officers are MPPs Bas Balkissoon (Scarborough-Rouge River), Julia
Munro (York-Simcoe), and Paul Miller (Hamilton East-Stoney Creek).
