Fergus Fall Fair Ambassador Dinner
Ted Arnott, MPP
Wellington – Halton Hills
Remarks by Ted Arnott at the Fergus Fall Fair Ambassador
Dinner, Sunday September 9, 2012
Good evening:
It’s great to be here, and great to see all of you,
As, for the 176th year, our community comes together to prepare for the Fall Fair.
This year’s theme, “Farm Gate to Dinner Plate,” is so timely and appropriate, for
the need to inform and educate the urban consumer of where their food comes
from, continues as always.
Freshness, quality and safety: all things Ontario food is known for. And we can all
be proud of that, and that the labour and smarts of our farm families produce the
food that sustains our cities.
I want to thank everybody – everybody involved – in preparing and setting up for
the fair. So much to do, in such a short time, year after year, you do a fabulous
job, and we appreciate it more than you can imagine.
And I especially want to thank Tayler Black for the super job he has done as our
Fair Ambassador. Watch this young man as he goes forward: he’s going to do
great things in his professional life and in his community.
To our Fair Contestants tonight: thank you for competing. There can only be one
Fair Ambassador at a time, but you’re all winners, because you’re showing your
interest in agriculture, in our community, you’re learning new skills and gaining
self confidence: lessons you’ll use throughout your life.
We’re very proud of each and every one of you. Have fun, relax, and enjoy
tonight. Congratulations and good luck.
And to all of you, thanks for inviting me, and I look forward to seeing you at the
Fair.
Thank you!
