MPP Arnott highlights Georgetown Hospital in Ontario
Legislature
(Queen’s Park) – Wellington-Halton Hills MPP Ted Arnott rose in the Ontario Legislature on October 4 to
highlight the progress being made at the Georgetown Hospital redevelopment project.
“Georgetown Hospital is being transformed to meet the needs of our residents in the 21 Century with a
new and expanded Emergency Department, the installation of a new CT scanner and integrated
Diagnostic Imaging Department,” said Mr. Arnott. “Last May, we broke ground beside the hospital to kick
off the project, and construction is well underway.”
On September 30, Mr. Arnott, along with his son Dean, attended the 5 annual Walk for Georgetown
Hospital. Organizers of the Walk had hoped to raise approximately $100,000.
“I want to thank everyone who helped out with the Walk and made the event such a success,” said Mr.
Arnott afterward. “It is events like these that bring out the best in our community.”
Mr. Arnott has been a strong advocate for the Georgetown Hospital. He has both written and spoken to
the Minister of Health on multiple occasions, gave numerous speeches in the Legislature, and even
initiated a debate and vote in the House to draw attention to the project.
In his statement, Mr. Arnott also offered an update on the planning for a new Groves Memorial
Community Hospital in Fergus.

Wellington – Halton Hills
Mr. Speaker:
I wish to update the House on the hospital projects currently underway in Wellington-Halton Hills.
Georgetown Hospital is being transformed to meet the needs of our residents in the 21st Century with a
new and expanded Emergency Department, the installation of a new CT scanner and integrated
Diagnostic Imaging Department.
Last May, we broke ground beside the hospital to kick off the project, and construction is well underway.
One year ago, the Minister of Health joined us in Georgetown to announce a provincial grant of up to
$2.6 million towards the project. Our community continues to be grateful for this support.
The planning for our new Groves Memorial Community Hospital in the Township of Centre Wellington
continues to gain momentum.
Recently the Waterloo Wellington Local Health Integration Network endorsed the program and service
elements which Groves’ had submitted and the LHIN urged the Ministry to prioritize the determination of
projected volumes and bed numbers.
Next steps include working with Infrastructure Ontario on cost estimates for design and construction, and
meetings with hospital staff and stakeholders to help shape the project design.
An architectural firm has been selected and hired, and we believe we are on track to begin the tendering
process by 2014/15, which was the date announced by the Province last August.
All of this is great news for my constituents, and I want to thank everyone at the Georgetown and Groves
Hospitals for embracing the promise of the future in local health care excellence.
