Text of Mr. Arnott’s Resolutions
Mr. Arnott – That, in the opinion of this House, recognizing the increasing volume of truck traffic
through the Town of Halton Hills, the Minister of Transportation should prioritize the Highway 7
Acton Bypass project by placing it on the Southern Highways Program, the Ministry’s five-year
investment plan for highway construction for Southern Ontario.
Mr. Arnott – That, in the opinion of this House, the Minister of Transportation should immediately
move forward to fulfill the Government’s commitment to provide full day, two way GO train
service on the Kitchener Line between Waterloo Region and the GTA with stops in Wellington-
Halton Hills.
Mr. Arnott – That, in the opinion of this House, the Minister of the Environment and Climate
Change should ensure that the Permit to Take Water application process continues to be
science-based, to provide long-term protection to our ground water resources, and that any new
taxes or increase in the fees charged to large volume water users with Permits to Take Water
should be substantially shared with the municipalities where the water is being drawn.
Mr. Arnott – That, in the opinion of this House, the Attorney General should expedite the long-
delayed planning process for a new courthouse in the Region of Halton and commit to a firm
date when construction will commence.
Mr. Arnott – That, in the opinion of this House, the Minister of Advanced Education and Skills
Development should approve the proposed new Wilfrid Laurier University campus in Milton.
Mr. Arnott – That in the opinion of this House, after the provincial budget is balanced, the
Government should begin paying down the provincial debt by creating a new line item in the
budget, committing to making a payment on the principal of the provincial debt of at least 2.5
percent of the program spending of that fiscal year.
