Throne Speech a Liberal campaign commercial, Arnott says
(Queen’s Park) – Most of Kathleen Wynne’s March 19th Throne Speech was nothing more than a Liberal campaign commercial, says Wellington-Halton Hills MPP Ted Arnott.
“While it was eloquently written and presented, more than half of this Throne Speech was nothing new. It was just a summary of what they claim they’ve accomplished over the past 4 years,” Mr. Arnott said. “And looking ahead, we know that they are prepared to say anything to stay in power, so their campaign promises simply can’t be trusted.”
Mr. Arnott also took issue with the Government’s decision to prorogue the Provincial Parliament last week, which led to the presentation of the Throne Speech.
“A Speech from the Throne, read in the Legislature by the Queen’s representative, is normally an outline of the Government’s priorities and plans for an upcoming legislative session. However, today’s Throne Speech comes at the end of a Parliament, just before a scheduled provincial election,” Mr. Arnott said. “It’s disgraceful that the Liberals have chosen to politicize the parliamentary tradition of the Throne Speech in this way.”
The people of Ontario deserve better, Mr. Arnott maintains.
“Ontario needs a change of Government. The mismanagement, dishonesty and scandals of the Liberals must be brought to an end, and we need to deliver the kind of Government that the people of Ontario deserve,” he concluded.
