MPP Arnott writes new Minister of Transportation on GTA West Corridor Study
(Wellington-Halton Hills) – Wellington-Halton Hills MPP Ted Arnott has followed through on the first step of his ten-point plan he presented during the recent election campaign concerning the Liberal Government’s controversial GTA West Corridor Study.
On October 20th, on the very day that Premier Dalton McGuinty announced his new cabinet, Mr. Arnott wrote to the new Ministry of Transportation to ensure that people’s concerns about a potential new highway are understood and heeded.
“This was a very significant issue in Wellington-Halton Hills during the campaign, observed Mr. Arnott. “I put forward this ten-point plan so that the government will have to listen to our communities’ concerns.”
Mr. Arnott congratulated the new Minister, Bob Chiarelli, on his appointment, and informed him that his letter is the first step he is taking on this issue following the election; he also assured him that there will be more to come.
In August, Mr. Arnott predicted that there was likely to be a new Minister of Transportation following the election. He called on the government to suspend the GTA West Corridor Study, pending a review by the new Minister. Just days later, the government put the brakes on the study, saying it would undertake further consultations.
