Dear Friends in Wellington-Halton Hills:
Together, we continue to confront the COVID-19 public health emergency. As we have seen, our efforts to stay home when we can and practice physical distancing have had a positive impact, but we must continue these measures to not only flatten and plank the curve.
I would be the first to admit that “physical distance” has been a challenge for me, as in normal times I make an effort to practice “physical presence” in our Riding, through meetings with constituents and attending community events, and helping out however I can. But these days, my staff and I are working remotely on your behalf.
We all need to remember the advice of our mental health organizations and advocates about how to navigate these difficult times and reduce our stress and anxiety as much as possible:
- Use credible media sources to stay informed, but take a break from it when you need to
- Be kind to yourself, and to others
- Stay active by going out for a walk (being sure to maintain appropriate physical distancing), or try exercising at home
- Reach out to others through phone calls, texts, or video calls
Please know there are also still a number of community resources available to assist you if you are struggling during this period of physical distancing and ever-changing circumstances, including:
- Canadian Mental Health Association Waterloo-Wellington branch:1-844-437-3247
- Canadian Mental Health Association Halton Region branch:1-877-693-4270
- ConnexOntario:1-866-531-2600
As always, my staff and I are here to help on matters involving the Provincial Government, and we can be reached by phone or e-mail.
Until I see you again, keep well, stay safe, and take care.
Ted Arnott, MPP
