A little over a month ago, on June 2nd, the Provincial election was held and I was honoured to be re-
elected as the representative for Wellington-Halton Hills at Queen’s Park.  
  
Over the course of the campaign, I met countless Wellington-Halton Hills constituents who shared their
concerns with me.  
  
I met a small business person in Elora whose product is being unfairly taxed. I met a mother in
Rockwood who has a daughter with cystic fibrosis, who needs help with the cost of a new medication. I
met a person in Acton who is concerned about urban sprawl and the need to protect our best farmland.
I met a young woman in Puslinch who is working hard this summer to save money for university. I met a
senior in Georgetown who wondered what we are going to do to improve long term care and another
individual who can’t make ends meet on ODSP. I met a woman in Salem who is on a long waiting list for
orthopaedic surgery. I met people across the riding who are struggling to make ends meet with the high
price of gasoline, food, and housing.  
  
On June 3rd, I was back to work in our riding office and penned a letter to Premier Ford highlighting
some of these issues, as well as other urgent needs in our communities.  
  
One such need is Halton Healthcare’s Georgetown Hospital. The Hospital is in the process of planning for
redevelopment, and I want to do whatever I can to support this project and the Hospital staff and
administration as they move through the multi-stage approvals process administered by the Capital
Branch of the Ministry of Health. 
 
We are asking for Halton Healthcare to be given permission to move on to the next step in planning and
be provided with a planning grant of approximately $15 million to do the necessary work. I will continue
to advocate for the project with the new Minister of Health.  
  
The community is also a key part of hospital redevelopment projects, so together with our local and
provincial healthcare partners: Let’s get it done.
