Petition launched against Alternative 4-3
(Queen’s Park) – A petition is being launched to give area residents another opportunity to express
opposition to Alternative 4-3.
The McGuinty Liberal Government initiated the GTA West Corridor Study, which identified
Alternative 4-3 as a possible route for a new provincial highway.
The Councils of the Town of Halton Hills and the Region of Halton have expressed concerns, area
residents have spoken out, and the matter has been raised in the Ontario Legislature by local MPP
Ted Arnott.
Mr. Arnott is committed to presenting the petitions in the Ontario Legislature.
The petition will soon be posted online at www.tedarnottmpp.com, so that interested people can
download it and obtain signatures.
“The rules of the Legislature require that petitions follow a specific format and contain original
signatures, not photocopied signatures,” Mr. Arnott said. “I hope that the people who are opposed to
Alternative 4-3 will avail themselves of this opportunity.”

PETITION
TO the Legislative Assembly of Ontario:
WHEREAS the McGuinty Liberal Government has initiated the GTA West Corridor Study, and
The study has identified a possible route for a new highway through the Town of Halton Hills, which is
known as Alternative 4-3, and
The Province of Ontario has a total debt of at least $236.3 billion, and a deficit this year of at least $16
billion, and a diminished financial capacity to build new highways like this one, and
The Councils of the Town of Halton Hills and the Region of Halton have formally expressed serious
concerns about Alternative 4-3, and
As many as 9,000 have objected in writing to Alternative 4-3, because of the impact it would have on our
local environment, heritage and historical sites, good quality farmland, community identify, and property
values.
WE the undersigned petition the Legislative Assembly of Ontario as follows:
That the Minister of Transportation should announce that Alternative 4-3 of the GTA West
Corridor Study has been removed from further consideration.
