MPPs back to work at Queen’s Park
(Queen’s Park) – Questions of accountability had the McGuinty Government on the defensive as the
Ontario Legislature resumed sitting February 21st.
“The Drummond report proves that Ontario can’t afford Dalton McGuinty,” said Wellington-Halton
Hills MPP Ted Arnott. “And the problems at Ornge, the air ambulance service, prove that Ontario
can’t trust his Government to do the right thing.”
Ontario PC Leader Tim Hudak and his Caucus hammered away at both issues during Question
Period.
“The Premier was unwilling to name even one of Mr. Drummond’s recommendations that would be
implemented,” Mr. Arnott said. “Ontario needs leadership and Mr. McGuinty must find it within
himself to comprehensively respond to the report he himself commissioned.”
In reply to questions on the Ornge scandal from PC MPP Frank Klees, Health Minister Deb
Matthews was just as evasive.
“Many months ago, when our Caucus raised the problems at Ornge in the House, the Minister of
Heath brushed them aside,” Mr. Arnott went on. “Now the OPP have been called in to investigate.
The Minister has yet to explain why she allowed these issues to be swept under the carpet for so
long.”
