Ontario loses 33,900 jobs in June
(Wellington-Halton Hills) – Today’s disappointing jobs report from Statistics Canada underlines
again the ineffectiveness of the Wynne Government when it comes to job creation.
“On the eve of their presentation of a re-tread budget, we learn Ontario lost 33,900 jobs in
June,” Wellington-Halton Hills MPP Ted Arnott said. “Clearly if the Liberals have a jobs strategy,
it isn’t working.”
Mr. Arnott is the Ontario PC Critic to the Minister of Economic Development, Employment and
Infrastructure.
“To stimulate job creation, we need a budget that reduces the tax and red tape burden on
business, and gets hydro rates, government spending and debt under control,” Mr. Arnott
added.
This is the 90th straight month that Ontario’s unemployment rate has been above Canada’s
national average, the PC Caucus maintains.
“We continue to insist the Government must change course,” Mr. Arnott concluded.
